Job Description
|
Providing leadership oversight for the operational (+design) stability of complex LAN/WAN data network. This position also has responsibility for leading the engineering team through due diligence, collecting technical information for database entry, identifying remediation requirements, and implementing SNMP network management to all existing installed WAN devices at remote sites
Responsibilities
Ensure LAN/WAN networking, Internet connectivity, data integrity and, maintain systems capacity and network performance, lead the development and implementation of solutions to support business requirements; design, promote and implement standards, procedures and policies to ensure availability, capacity and performance of networks in conformance with SLAs;
Develop project implementation plans and, survey and evaluate performance needs and goals of users, and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure.
Duties include attending technical planning//review meetings with project team, co-developing due diligence technical criteria , and providing weekly progress reports to BBC corporate engineering management team
Qualifications:
M.S. degree in technical area & 10-12 years job-related experience
Approx. ten (10) years; Network design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of routers, hubs, switches, and cabling in a larger LAN/WAN UNIX environment.
Expert knowledge: Cisco routers & LAN switches, Juniper M20 routers;
Expert knowledge: EIGRP,OSPF,BGP,RIP,FR/ATM, ACLs, TCP/IP, IPX.
Expert knowledge: Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN trunking, Inter-VLAN routing, trunking w/ ISL & 802.1q
Working knowledge: Network management and analysis tools, NAI Sniffer, Firewall and Security
Required: Cisco CCNP certification – (IF Possible): CCNP + CCNP/DP and/or CCSA and/or CCIE.
